If you follow me on Instagram (@modemayhem), you'd know that I was in Boracay over the weekend! Which explains my lack of posts again- that pre and post vacation workload. I came home to a bunch of stuff I bought though, so proper outfit posts soon!

Boracay was like a dream in so many ways. I was there for such a short time that it did almost feel like something I experienced in my sleep, but I would never have been able to dream up waters that blue or feel how soft the sand was between my toes. I had an amazing time, despite my deep rooted suspicions of the sun's evil UV rays. I went there partly for work too, and everyone was so incredibly efficient, generous and welcoming that it made the trip as close to perfect as humanly possible. If only Singapore was more like that.

I'm definitely going back sometime soon- for much, much longer the next time round.

One of the things about dating a DJ is that you tend to find yourself in clubs quite often, which means you never have enough party dresses. I don't really blog about my party outfits but for the most part, I just piece separates together and throw on a bunch of bling. For special occasions though, I do like dressing up and behold, the dress I got for the Valentine's weekend. Also, DJ Craze who happened to be on tour in Asia played at the club my boyfriend works at on Saturday. How can you possibly not dress up for that?

It's quite a statement piece, so I didn't want to burden it with too many accessories and kept it pretty minimal. I've got some plans to wear this out in the day, and seeing how I work from home, am pretty excited about that. I don't actually get to dress up much these days. =O

Anyway, a belated Happy Valentine's Day to y'all out there! I know its a pretty Hallmark-y day, but having a day specially for celebrating love and friendship, is not a bad thing at all in my books.

Ok I don't really have anything against Thursdays, its just that its such a transient day (like its almost Friday, but not quite) sometimes I have problems deciding what to wear. You know what I mean- you want to dress up but at the same time, you don't really want to? This was my compromise: the comfiest oversized shirt in my wardrobe and arm cuffs I latched around my ankles to offset the potential hobo-ness (I'm convinced one of the reasons behind the creation of statement accessories is so you can get away with putting minimal effort into looks).

So I dug out this necklace/choker/spare part a few days ago and I realized I've actually never worn it since I got it. It was something I picked up on sale and haven't really given much thought to because its quite steampunk/goth looking, which is really not a style I can work (my friend's girlfriend on the other hand, has the same piece, and she wears it beautifully). I figured a shirt and something big and leathery would balance it out- so this is the look I styled around it.

Probably not your typical outfit for showing a 3kg burger who's boss, but when I started with the necklace, the rest just sort of followed and I went with it. This is actually my first time wearing this crazy necklace ever since I got it about half a year ago so yeah, mentally kicking myself for so many wasted opportunities right now.

For something handmade, the woven detailing is incredible. Why are people so talented?
